Living with Anxiety:
Current Management Techniques
by Ryan Rivera

Too often, we hear anxiety sufferers say how much they would rather not live if
they were to go on living with anxiety. The horrific symptoms that anxiety brings
into their lives seem to take away the reason for living.
Theatrical as it may sound, but this is the truth of the matter.

Anxiety is such a terrible disease that leaves normally effective, working people in
a stew for the nearest fire exit. The feelings of dread and doom experienced by its
dejected victims are horrendously terrifying, mirroring the very same signs that an
individual would encounter if the very worst was actually reeling. The dreadful
sensations that appear without notice and at most unexpected moments drive
people into feats of lunacy. They may keep themselves isolated and locked up
behind closed doors just to escape the possible episodes of attack. They may be
trapped in the endless acts of counting, cleaning or checking just to appease their
obsessive thoughts and inclinations. Or they may wallow themselves into the cave
of depression believing that no one can help them fend off the anxiety.

How terrible it is to be living in such kind of life! To be ensnared into such
circumstance, cannot be considered a life worth living at all. However, letting the
disease take rule or, worse, taking one’s life is not the answer to the problem.
The only solution to the predicament is to challenge it head-on.

To help bust this disease, some techniques that can be easily practiced
and incorporated into one’s daily routine are listed and explained below.

1. Consider Homeopathy

The use of homeopathic remedies as a cure for anxiety has received quite a few
applause from experts. This kind of therapy has earned a reputation for fully
addressing anxiety and not merely its symptoms on an episodic basis.
Aside from such victor, it has also proved to treat anxiety without the slightest
indication of an adverse reaction, regardless of how much one takes.

Homeopathic remedies are remedies that use herbs and other natural substances
to treat anxiety on the idea that “like cures like.” This means that certain plants
and naturally-occurring compounds that give off the same symptoms as those
from which the patient suffers (such as anxiety) are refined and then given to the
patient. This is done in order that one’s immune system becomes more
accustomed with the symptoms that the substance produces. Thus, one’s body
will be better able to defend itself against illnesses that have the same symptoms.

2. Rest in a Darkened Room

It is no surprise that to be in the dark can be a frightening situation.
Terror escalates when you do not know what to expect or what will happen. When
you’re deprived of the ability to see what’s coming ahead, it’s just horrifying.
However, no matter how foreboding such situation can be, reports from the
personal experiences of anxiety patients beg to differ to the terror that darkness
brings.

As people who suffer from constant worry and anxiety, they have discovered the
tranquility that resting or lying down in the dark gives to them. They have shared
how a darkened room gives more release from anxiety than a lighted one.

This technique is believed to work based on the simple reason that darkness is a
non-stimulating factor compared to a brightly lighted room. Since the brain is
already in haywire from the overexcitability of the neurons or nerve cells, it is then
important that stimulation is reduced to help stop the anxiety. Hence, turning off
the lights and taking down the blinds are necessary steps to help relieve anxiety.

3. Reconnect with Your Partner

If sex is something that has been neglected for quite some time since the
appearance of the anxiety symptoms, it is time to bring sex back to the table. . .
I mean, to the bed!

Sex is a very effective anxiety management technique that many psychologists
should recommend to their patients, sexologists say. The ultimate act of
expressing love and practicing intimacy helps to increase the levels of endorphins
in the body. This mood-boosting chemical of the brain assists the body to achieve
total relaxation. The piled feelings of stress, strains in the body, and worries in
one’s mind can be released and let out in the simple act of love making.

Because of this reason, anxiety patients should make a date with their partners.
They should wine and dine and then lock themselves up in each other’s embrace
and let their hormones carry them away.

To live with various stressors is a reality of life.
However, being stressed out is not part of it.
Although not everything in this world can be controlled, this detail does not mean
that one should just let himself become distraught by these
anxiety symptoms.
And so, one should stand up against anxiety and continue to rise above it through
the use of effective anxiety management techniques.

Ryan Rivera is a former anxiety sufferer. He was able to effectively manage the
symptoms through alternative methods.
