baby-boomer generation when they become concerned about
a loved-one's ability to drive safely as a result of the aging process.
We provide attendees with a roadmap to help families address
the issue with tact, compassion, and empathy, so that
he older driver's dignity is never unnecessarily jeopardized.
"A Safe Drive Through the Aging Process"
"A Safe Drive Through the Aging Process" is a 1-hour presentation
developed to empower older drivers to make appropriate decisions
on the future of their driving career.
The "Enhanced Self-Assessment Program"
for Senior Drivers
This individualized program has been designed to serve as a valuable tool in helping older drivers
(and their families) make appropriate decisions regarding the future of ones safe driving career.
If the individual is a safe driver, we provide him or her with strategies on how to remain a safe driver as
they progress through the aging process.
If driving retirement is the appropriate decision, then we provide the individual (and their family) with
acceptable alternatives, resources and a very specific plan to ensure a smooth and successful transition
from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat.
Keeping Us Safe has dedicated itself to improving the mortality rate of older drivers and drivers with
certain disabilities. We will accomplish this by working one-on-one with the older driver, and by
developing and delivering education programs to older drivers and their families, geriatric professionals,
and the public in general. We will further enhance our service to others by forming meaningful and
beneficial partnerships with members of the geriatric and highway safety communities.
Continuing Education Program for Professionals: social workers and nurses titled
"Bringing a Peaceful Resolve to Complex and Sensitive Senior Driving Issues".
This class is offered in both a 2 hour and a 1 hour format.

Jefferson County . She provides education on community resources as well as case management

older adults and their families for over 5 years and currently volunteers as an Alzheimer’s
Association Caregiver Support Group Facilitator. She received both her Bachelor and Master of

I am in private practice in Arnold at 3608 Jeffco Blvd., phone 636-464-1915.
I treat Mood Disorders (such as depression and bipolar
disorder) and various anxiety disorders, with specialties in the
healing of past trauma and marital counseling. My colleague, Dana
Maxson, specializes in work with children through their teen years. I
am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri, and
Nationally Certified by the NCC. I have been practicing since 1992.
I will be talking about anger and depression/anxiety as NORMAL, with
the ability to help us if we pay attention to such things early.
These are emotions that help caregivers avoid burn-out and MAJOR
depression so that we can see anger, for example, as our friend.
I will discuss boundary issues and the use of assertive language and
healthy self-talk as part of self-care when in such stressful
situations. I will hand out descriptions of dysthymia (mild
depression) versus major depression, and will leave ample time for
questions and answers for most of the time I have.

I am in private practice in Arnold at 3608 Jeffco Blvd., phone 636-464-1915.
I treat Mood Disorders (such as depression and bipolar
disorder) and various anxiety disorders, with specialties in the
healing of past trauma and marital counseling. My colleague, Dana
Maxson, specializes in work with children through their teen years. I
am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri, and
Nationally Certified by the NCC. I have been practicing since 1992.
I will be talking about anger and depression/anxiety as NORMAL, with
the ability to help us if we pay attention to such things early.
These are emotions that help caregivers avoid burn-out and MAJOR
depression so that we can see anger, for example, as our friend.
I will discuss boundary issues and the use of assertive language and
healthy self-talk as part of self-care when in such stressful
situations. I will hand out descriptions of dysthymia (mild
depression) versus major depression, and will leave ample time for
questions and answers for most of the time I have.

Do you remember the story of the tortoise and the hare?
Sharon Gascic, LPN and Relaxation Educator will remind you that the
tortoise or turtle won the race by taking it slow and steady. Good advice
for all of us living in this busy and hurried world. Sharon is known as the
"Turtle Lady" because she coaches us to be more like that
turtle-to-slow-down, pace ourselves and relax.
Sharon is semi-retired and has worked in the Behavioral Health field as
a Relaxation Educator in Biofeedback for almost 30 years. Sharon has
taught classes on stress reduction, relaxation skills, facilitated groups
for people dealing with anxiety and panic and worked with individuals
one on one in Biofeedback. She also spent considerable time as a
family caregiver for her aging mother.
Sharon has recorded her own CD of guided visualization so that people
can benefit from her soothing voice in the comfort of their own home.
The CD is entitled Turtle Time and consists of four different guided
